Resolution of conflicts over water in the integral management of water resources: The case of the Cane Iguaque basin in the Alto Ricaurte in Boyacá Colombia
Abstract
This manuscript is based on the review of the concept of comprehensive water resource management and the importance related to the social component in the resolution of Conflicts over Water (CpA), as a coordinated, joint and multisectoral process. The participation-action methodology has allowed the identification of conflicts in the upper part of the Cane Iguaque river basin, under the framework of a strategy that includes the management of the social component and equitable access to water, socioeconomic factors, governance and conflicts over water. As results, they offer a dynamic and complex characteristic of the CpA, posing long-term challenges, to contain them, de-escalate them, through social participation and the strengthening of governability by the authorities and the population in general in a constant process.
