Application of indices for evaluation of the water quality of Lake Sochagota and its impacts on public health

Abstract

The present investigative work exposes the perception of the water quality of Lake Sochagota by frequent social groups in the area of influence such as students, hoteliers, tourists, merchants, public-private institutions. Lake Sochagota is classified as a lentic type lacustrine ecosystem, with a changing dynamic since its construction in the years 1950 to 1956, and where its aptitude was changed within the energy industrial component, being part of one of the tourist attractions of Paipa. Faced with the possible contamination of the lake, odors have been generated that are perceived heterogeneously in a general way by the communities, which has triggered a series of questions regarding the current problems of the lake, its possible solutions and the possible interinstitutional and interdisciplinary work that leading to the recovery of Lake Sochagota and the direct and indirect services it generates.
