Palabras clave: Atletismo, velocidad inicial y análisis biomecánico   ABSTRACT The speed test in athletism at the present is time with the hundred meters flat track has been a motive of research since the first Olympic Games, which has allowed to define the different stages of the race. The starting point of the race in the hundred meters track is responsible of the large percentage of results about the sportive improvement. Objective: Reviewing the biomechanical standards, referred in the present bibliography (written history – records) to support a suggestion for modification in the speed starting, in athletism. Methods: This is a systematic reviewing of the study, supported with the universal search data basis. A strategy for researching was apply in SPOLIT, SCIENCE DIRECT, MEDLINE AND PUBMED (search engines), through the use of the scripted terms and basic random operators. Results: 2963 articles where retrieved and saved which were selected following the criteria of acceptance, through filtering scanning 32 original articles, complete text, that support the biomechanical aspects that relate with the dynamics of the departure (starting point), and that offer the bases to propose a modification (change) in the starting rules. Conclusion: The modification of the speed departure in athletism is a factor that can generate improvement in the performance of seed trials. Of the sport, since the studies taking effect have proved that with specific positions of the athlet’s body positions, the mechanical action and the displacement the speed gets enhanced. The hundred meters track - speed is a very short trial that requires the perfectioning and optimization (improvement, enhancing, excelling) of each movement, due to the fact that any generated change representing the slightest improvement (the most minimum) advantage will be outstanding in the high performance.
