Resumen

El virus del Zika (ZIKV) es un Arbovirus del género Flavivirus, que ha cobrado gran importancia en los últimos años por los reportes de contagio en áreas originalmente no endémicas, como América Latina, además del impacto económico, social y cultural derivados de las posibles secuelas congénitas.  Esta revisión aborda de manera integral los avances relacionados con la clínica, fisiopatología, diagnóstico, tratamiento y una revisión de las posibles complicaciones generales y perinatales como la microcefalia documentadas de la infección por el virus del Zika.
