Abstract

The implementation of personal defense achieves a spacein physical education classes, motivates students from schoolsand educational institutions potentially, mitigates the social problems that are generated today in their contexts, a system contrary to the violent combat techniques obtained of different mar-tial arts Objective. Implement self-defense as a pedagogical stra-tegy in physical education classes in grade 11-1 of the Technical Institute ”Gonzalo Su ́arez Rend ́on”Tunja-Boyac ́a. Metho-dology. Research framed in a mixed approach that correspondsto an action research, four phases were included for the construction of the personal defense program: Diagnosis, planningor design, action or development and evaluation, instrumentsfor collecting information from the participant observation registered in the field diaries, surveys applied to participating stu-dents to later harmonize their positions in a descriptive matrixand thus be able to triangulate the information. Results. 35.96 %of the participating students surveyed accepted that the imple-mentation of self-defense reduces violent behaviors, avoids pro-blems, promotes sports, values, establishes limits and encourages self-control. Conclusions. The diagnosis of the initial stateof the motor qualities of the students contributed in the deter-mination of the physical condition. The design of the intervention program encouraged students in healthy coexistence. The application of the program in physical education classes impro-ved self-confidence and self-control. The evaluation of the self- defense program as a pedagogical strategy showed that learningbasic combat techniques in a defensive and evasive way is elementary for students in their school environment
