Abstract

Cases of overweight and obesity were detected in students of the Diocesan Seminary Educational Institution of the city of Duitama, Boyacá, in an age range of 8 to 14 years, in order to establish an action plan to reduce obesity. The study is based on a quantitative approach, whose type of research is quasi-experimental, where calculations were made in the minimum and maximum frequency records in the mean and standard deviation. The 30 voluntary participants were selected from a screening of 609 students. The practical research process lasted 12 weeks for a total of 36 sessions of 1 hour each. As a final result, the research participants obtained an increase in physical activity that helped improve lifestyle habits. With the pre and post test records, it is confirmed that directed physical activity leads to a decrease in body weight and other variables included in this study.
